Animal Rights
Our firm regularly donates and legally assists, on pro bono basis, non-profit organizations (NPO) established for the upholding of animal rights.
These include the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Israel established in 1927, that offers a variety of services including: sheltering of abandoned animals and locating adoptive homes, veterinary services, boarding kennels for pets and spacious stables for the rehabilitation of farm animals and “beasts of burden” that have suffered abuse and neglect. The SPCA is especially proud of its educational activities for groups of all ages and all sectors, its lobbying activities in parliament for laws that promote animal welfare and its involvement in the public struggles against the mistreatment and abuse of animals.
Another organization is “Animals Now” that concentrates on legislative work for the advancement of animal protection laws and their enforcement. The activities include participation in parliamentary discussions and providing relevant information and data to parliament members from across the political spectrum, as well as ministers, and professional ranks of government ministries. The initiatives include: the promotion of a ban on cruel conditions in live shipments of calves and lambs, consideration of animal welfare in planning agricultural reforms, and the fight against intentions to funnel public funds into abusive industries – such as the building of crowded, battery cages for chickens, and more.
Our representatives participate in discussions in the Knesset, providing information and data to Knesset members from across the political spectrum, including ministers, and professional ranks of government ministries, in order to promote bills and advance laws that improve protection for animals.
